The Fair is the brainchild of developer and entrepreneur Anthony G. Vischer. His and Wendelin Lang’s company Markenzeichen AG organises events across the globe. Customers are among others: Design Miami/Basel, LVMH, Gagosian Gallery, UBS etc.
As president of Kunsthaus Baselland he is committed to regional, national and international contemporary art. Vischer is a board member of various charitable and cultural foundations.
Nadine Vischer Klein, Co-Founder of Trésor Basel AG, responsible for exhibitor relations worked at Sotheby’s London Zurich and Geneva as an expert of the applied arts. She helped build up the sales of Russian Works of Art, Gold boxes, European silver, miniatures and carpets, first in Zurich during the era of Sotheby’s chairman Peter Wilson and later in Geneva. Ms. Vischer Klein runs her own company ART ADVISORY SERVICE putting her knowledge of the international art market and her network at the service of collectors, museums, institutions and art lovers. She is a board member of several charitable and cultural foundations.
Artistic Director Brian Kennedy is an independent curator working predominantly in the craft and applied art area. He curated a series of major exhibitions for the Crafts Council of Ireland. Kennedy worked closely with Contemporary Applied Arts, London on the move to their new gallery and developed a series of exhibitions for the first year of their programming. In 2014 he curated the critically acclaimed exhibition “Vase Vessel Void” for the Oliver Sears Gallery and in 2015/16 “In Residence I & II” for the same gallery in London. Other projects are Walpole’s “Crafted – Makers of Excellence” exhibitions at Somerset House, London in 2013 and at the Royal Academy, London in 2014. In 2015/16 he curated Taste – Contemporary Craft Exhibition at Art Geneva and Art Monte Carlo. 2016 also saw him return to the National Craft Gallery Ireland with “VASE, Function Reviewed” a major survey exhibition of international contemporary ceramics.
Kennedy works with state agencies, museums, galleries and private collectors to develop strategies, organise exhibitions and build collections within the craft and applied art areas.
The TRESOR Team will also draw from the expertise and guidance of an international Advisory Board, TRESOR Family, made up of leading curators, museum directors, practitioners, taste makers and opinion leaders.
